    Hey – saw your post in BnA and decided to check out your budget. What Level of hotel are you staying at? Do you spring for a/c? My fiance and I will be doing a 4 month trip soon and I’m still trying to get a handle on the thai budget.

    This is basically a breakdown of ever single baht we have spent. Unfortunatly we didn’t start jeep track until 3 weeks into our trip, but it gives you an idea. Any place “dinner” etc is listed its the price we payed total, ie for two people.

    As for the type of rooms, it really varies. On koh phangan we stayed in a not so clean bungalow on the beach without AC. On the flip side we had rooms at D&D guesthouse on kohsan road at 750-1100 a night, complete with AC and a TV (broadcasting pirated movies no less!!). In general I’d say we stayed in medium rooms, a step up normally from the absolute cheapest. I would warn you that if you are very lazy you will end up spending a lot more. If you just show up to a place and ask for a room, and its busy, they might only have a room for 1400-3000 baht. These are the times you need to be strong and keep walking and looking for a cheaper place. Also you’ll save money by asking if you can get a discount if you stay multiple nights.
